I can help you out with the Sodom thing…
You stated that the Bible is not clear on why Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed – it actually does. You have to jump over to Ezekiel 16 where the Lord says, ” ‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.
So in rank order the sins of Sodom were:
1. Arrogance
2. Gluttonness (overfed)
3. Unconcerned
4. Not helpful to the poor and needy
5. Haughty
6. Did detestable things
If the ‘detestable things’ were, in fact, homosexual acts (which isn’t at all clear) then at best that was the sixth most important reason why Sodom was obliterated.
